When you love Christmas as much as everyone here at Holiday Magic Hub, the season can be a strain on your wallet. A joyful strain, but a strain nonetheless. Between the gifts, decor, wrapping, and feasting, the budget can disappear before December even starts.
To stretch my budget, I try to do as much shopping at Dollar Tree as I can before I visit the more expensive stores, and this year they had some delightful products.
If you’re not a fan of Dollar Tree, these items might change your mind.
Merry Wooden Signs
Dollar Tree does not mess around when it comes to wooden Christmas signs. It seems like a random thing for them to go above and beyond with, but I don’t claim to understand the intricacy of Dollar Tree stocking decisions.
Right when I walked into the store, I was greeted with roughly a million wooden signs with Christmas designs and phrases. My favorite was a little elf stake that could be planted in the ground, but many of them were charming.
Mini Bobbles
Usually, the Dollar Tree bobbles are nothing to report back on. But this year, they upped their collection of mini bobbles, which are ideal for filling in the bare spots on your tree.
Large bobbles tend to steal the spotlight from more sentimental ornaments, but not mini ones. Dollar Tree had an impressive range of colors, small sizes, and textures this year, and now my mini bobble collection is overflowing.
Oven Mitts and Pot Holders
Usually Target or Marshall’s are my spots for Christmas kitchen items, especially oven mitts and pot holders. However, I was delighted by Dollar Tree’s selection this year.
Not only were the mitts cute and varied, but almost every one had a pot holder to match. It felt like every time I turned around, there was another adorable oven mitt for me to consider. The dish towels were plentiful and pretty too, but not enough to get their own spot on my list.
Wrapping Paper
I’ll scream it from the snow-covered rooftops: Dollar Tree is the best place to get wrapping paper. I mean that for Christmas, as well as every other gift-giving holiday and occasion. The range of options is extensive, from classy vintage styles to modern sleek options to cartoonish, playful designs.
The rolls are, well, $1.25, just like everything else. And that’s a sensational deal compared to the prices other places charge (I’m looking at you, Target). And while the wrapping paper is a bit thinner, skilled gift-wrappers can handle it.
Christmas Headbands
Honorable mention goes to Dollar Tree’s Santa hat collection, but the headbands were what drew me in this year. There were various reindeer antlers, from buff check to sequined, as well as elf hats, Christmas tree designs, ones with bells, and other styles.
I already own my fair share of Santa hats, but Christmas headbands are about to become my new obsession. They’re cute and seem a lot less likely to make my head itchy.
Decorative Bows and Ribbon
Like with the wrapping paper, I like to get most of my wrapping and decorating ribbon from Dollar Tree. I don’t think $20 for a few feet of ribbon is a great deal, but $1.25 for a few feet makes my wallet happy. The ribbon options were fantastic this year, but the bows were truly wonderful.
In past years, I’ve only seen red, poorly-made decorative bows at Dollar Tree. But this time, I found a wealth of stylish options that I’d expect to find at TJ Maxx or another pricier store.
Stockings
I’m very selective about my Christmas stockings. And I’m not sure that Dollar Tree has raised its quality to meet my standards. But I do commend them for upping their stocking game this year. The options were much more diverse and trendier.
They were also more well-made, as I didn’t see any decorations falling off or loose threads around the top, which I’ve definitely seen in the past. Plus, they made their stockings bigger (what’s the opposite of shrinkflation) so you can actually fit more than two stocking stuffers in them!
Holiday Tins
I had no idea that my decor collection was missing holiday tins until I hit Dollar Tree. They had stacks of holiday tins that grabbed my attention. The designs ranged from Christmas tree trucks to mugs of hot cocoa to scenes with Santa and his reindeer.
The metal was thicker than I would’ve expected and these seemed super sturdy — not exactly what Dollar Tree is known for. I’m going to use my new ones to hide holiday candy, but they also seem perfect for cookies, gift-giving, and more.
DIY Stocking With Markers
Dollar Tree has a whole bunch of Christmas crafts. There are clay snowmen you can paint, wooden gingerbread you can decorate, and Santa faces you can color in. But this DIY stocking is what stood out to me.
The ready-to-color design is adorable and seems like a spectacular way to get kids involved in the decorating fun. However, the three teeny-tiny markers look… not ideal. I’d recommend using different markers or buying fabric markers.
Themed Gummies
Every year, Dollar Tree has an array of strange and funky Christmas candy. This year, they had more themed items than usual, including Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer gummies. I also spied Spongebob Squarepants candy.
I know some kids who would go crazy over these, so they’re brilliant stocking stuffers. I did buy the reindeer gummies and they were surprisingly very tasty.
Candy Spoons
This is not the first year Dollar Tree has offered chocolate flavored and candy cane spoons, but they’re still worth mentioning. Unless you make your edible spoons at home, which Madison can teach you how to do with this guide, they’re usually not very tasty.
I’ve bought candy spoons from Target, Costco, and even Whole Foods, but they leave a lot to be desired taste-wise. So I highly recommend buying these inexpensive ones from Dollar Tree. They taste the same as the pricier ones and offer the same enchanting holiday aesthetic.
Holiday Gnomes
Maybe I’m partial to these because I think gnomes are absolutely adorable. I have an inordinate amount of Christmas gnome decor. This little guy is my sixth and I was thrilled to welcome him to the family. Dollar Tree had a variety of stuffed gnomes like this.
I swear to you, this is the exact same quality as the $25 one I bought from Target last year. He was cheap, but he’s just as loved as all my other gnomes.
Santa Scene Gift Bags
Along with the wrapping paper and ribbons, I also recommend shopping for gift bags at Dollar Tree. There are some fabulous and fun options, but the quality and detail on the Santa scene ones were delightful.
I found at least four variations and all of them had a classy Norman Rockwell-type vibe, plus a little glitter to make them sparkle. These did not feel like Dollar Tree products at all and had the vintage vibe so many of us love.
Felt Advent Calendars
These felt advent calendars are ideal for little kids who want a calendar of their own. There were various color options and styles, including snowmen, reindeer, and Santa.
Candy and chocolate advent calendars can be expensive, especially if you’re shopping for several family members. But these are affordable and still fun for counting down to Christmas.
Mini Trees
These won’t entice everyone, but if you have a tiny Christmas village like mine, they’re beyond perfect. It’s incredible how expensive these little items can be, and I’m not even talking about the houses and figurines.
The small accents can break the bank, but not at Dollar Tree. I only bought three packs of these so I kept myself in check.
Photo Felt Ornament
You can put a photo of anyone or anything in these affordable felt ornaments. From kids to pets to spouses and beyond, it’s a sweet way to highlight a loved one while decorating your Christmas tree.
The store had ones that looked like gingerbread men, snowmen, elves, Santa, and more, giving you plenty of silly options. You can buy one for each person in your family so everyone gets a spot on the tree!
Patterned Tissue Paper
By now, you know Dollar Tree is my go-to for gift-wrapping gear. However, I’ve always been severely underwhelmed by the store’s tissue paper selection. Usually, it’s just plain red, green, and white — maybe with a candy stripe pattern thrown in there. They get the job done but don’t necessarily inspire joy.
But I found detailed patterns and trendy designs this year that wowed me. These will take any gift wrap to the next level, whether you’re doing a modern, vintage, retro, or traditional aesthetic.
Fluffy Socks
I cannot say that Dollar Tree Christmas socks are as good as holiday socks from Target, TJ Maxx, or Marshall’s. But I can say they’re decent and sensationally cheap!
They had dozens of styles this year and all of them were soft and ring in at, you guessed it, $1.25. If you’re looking for cheap stocking stuffers or don’t want to spend part of your decor budget on socks this year, Dollar Tree socks will absolutely satisfy you.
Wine Gift Bags
This burlap wine bag immediately caught my eye, because what’s classier than burlap, right? But I discovered fun and stylish wine gift bags throughout the store.
Some of them were typical paper gift bags, but others were made from long-lasting, reusable materials, like the burlap. I know they’re wine “gift” bags, but I fully plan on keeping this burlap one for myself and my bar cart.
Silicone Two Spatula Set
Holiday spatulas are weirdly important to me. Swapping out those utensils is when the holiday season really hits in my opinion, but again, those items are not cheap at other stores.
I have a Williams Sonoma one that I adore, but at $20 for one, it’s hard to create a collection. Dollar Tree sells two for $1.25, which is a steal if you ask me. Are they as high-quality as Williams Sonoma? No. Are they bad quality? No! I’m excited to use them.
Supreme Tradition Turkey Seasoning
If dealing with the turkey is daunting for you, you can make your life a little easier with this ready-to-go turkey seasoning from Supreme Tradition. I’ve had friends use it in the past for Thanksgiving, and it’s surprisingly flavorful and balanced.
It doesn’t taste cheap or come off as one-note as if they just loaded it with garlic salt and then slapped a “Turkey Seasoning” stick on it. Plus, it’s way cheaper than many other spice blends.
Pine Cone Ornaments
Depending on what kind of ornaments you like and are looking for, Dollar Tree may have what you need. There’s a variety of options, but none stood out to me except for these.
The pine cone ornaments felt very classy and rustic, even with the glitter on them. They came in a bunch of different colors, but the dark brown was the best one, as it had a whimsical winter wonderland vibe.
